About

Hello there, and welcome to my little travel blog. If you are looking for top ten lists of the best beaches in South-East Asia, wonder what your monthly budget should be for Laos or if the ATM in Futaleufu takes Visa cards, keep on looking, because this is definitely not the place (or wait, the last one I can actually help you with – it doesn’t) . If you, on the other hand, just want to get some travel inspiration, read stories about and see pictures of great – and some not so great – destinations around the world, if you want to see what it’s like to dive with sea lions, how it is to climb to the top of “Mount Doom” in the fog, check out the adorable kids of Myanmar or maybe just look at weird clown photos; look no further, this is the place!

And who am I? My name is Åsta Skjervøy (yep I know, there’s definitely some weird Norwegian letters in there), I’m a twenty something photographer from Norway and I love to travel. Since I graduated from Norwegian school of photography in 2011 I have pretty much either been travelling or I have been saving money for  my travels.

I guess I can blame that on my mother. She has been taking me and my oldest brothers backpacking since we were kids. It started with island hopping in Greece when I was ten. While classmates were laying on the beach in “Syden” (literally translated to “the south”, which is pretty much anywhere that’s warmer than Norway, has plenty of sun, beaches and resorts where you spend your whole vacation) we would sit at cafes, sip fruit juices and watch our backpacks while our mum would wander around looking for a place to sleep. I slept at my first airport when I was twelve and by the time I moved away from home I had already spent a total of 5 months of my life living out of a backpack.

Now when I travel I’m travelling solo, and I love it. At the moment I’m in Colombia, doing an exchange at La Universidad Nacional de Bogotá, and hopefully I will get to travel a bit around while I’m here, so stay tuned for more content. Some other things you should know about me: I’m addicted to ice cream, I love to dive and I have a weird fascination for clowns. The clown-fascination is the reason I started my clown-photography project a while ago, clown make-up is a part of my travel-kit and there’s a menu up there on the top saying clowns. I hope you don’t have coulrophobia.

You will find plenty of pictures on this blog, and they are all taken by me, unless otherwise stated. You will find everything from glaciers and beaches to fairytale forests, temples and bustling cities. Hope you will enjoy them, and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
